Hearally listens to part of your life so it can tell the people you choose about the things you would want them to know. That only works if you can trust exactly what happens to what it hears. This page says so plainly.

The short version

Only record what you have the right to record

You may only upload recordings you have the legal right to make. The law on recording differs from place to place. Some places, including several US states, require everyone taking part in a conversation, phone calls included, to agree to being recorded. Where the law requires that, you must get that agreement before you record.

You confirm this in your dashboard before any recording comes in, and you are responsible for what you record and upload. Hearally is not able to check whether a recording was made lawfully, and does not do so.

What we collect

Your account
Your email address and sign-in details, and the settings you choose.
Your recordings
Audio from your Plaud recorder, and when it was recorded, length and how it arrived.
Your Plaud connection
If you sign in to Plaud from Hearally, the sign-in Plaud gives us, kept apart from everything else and used only to fetch new recordings.
Consent records
What you agreed to and when, and what each ally agreed to and when.
Your allies
The name, email address and relationship of each person you add, what you have chosen to let each one hear, what was sent to them, and the quiet hours, daily-list time and time zone each ally sets for themselves. If an ally chooses phone calls, the mobile number they confirmed, and a record of each call.

How recordings reach us

How your recordings are processed

  1. Your recording is stored, encrypted, at Amazon Web Services in the United States.
  2. It is transcribed by NVIDIA’s open Parakeet model, running on servers we operate on Nebius AI Cloud.
  3. Account numbers and similar details are found by their timing in the transcript and silenced in the audio. The unredacted original is then deleted. If processing fails, a safeguard deletes it automatically, which can take up to about two days.
  4. To decide what is worth passing on, the transcript, with long numbers masked, is sent to NVIDIA’s open Nemotron model, hosted by Nebius. We use Nebius with zero data retention, which means Nebius does not store what we send once it has answered. Nebius states that it does not use customer content to train any AI model.
  5. What comes back is a short summary, such as “a new appointment on Thursday”. That summary is what we keep. The transcript itself is deleted as soon as it has been read.

Before anything is passed on, our dignity filter holds back private moments, such as venting about family or a remark about your body, and anything that mentions a topic you have named. The one exception: a caller pressing for money or details, or a request for help, is always passed on. Their short summaries are listed for you alone; no ally sees one unless you choose to send it. A film or programme playing in the room is ignored and not kept at all.

Who can see it

We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than running Hearally for you.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits to the pages of this website, so we can see which pages help. It records which page was opened and the page before it, as a web address without anything after a "?" or "#"; the type of browser and device; and a rough location from the internet address. It sets cookies in your browser for this. It never receives anything from your recordings, your summaries, your allies, your email address or your allies' links, and it is not linked to your account. Google signals and advertising features are off.

How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Unredacted audioDeleted once the silenced copy exists, normally within an hour. If processing fails, a safeguard deletes it within about two days.
Full transcriptsNever kept. Each is deleted as soon as it has been read, normally within an hour of the recording. If processing fails, a safeguard deletes it within about two days.
Silenced audio7 days.
Summaries, heads-ups and held-back moments90 days.
The list of recordings received90 days.
An ally's phone numberUntil the ally removes it, or you remove the ally. The code that confirms it is never stored, only a keyed fingerprint of it, for ten minutes.
Your Plaud connectionUntil you disconnect Plaud or close your account.
Consent recordsFor as long as your account exists, so there is always a record of what was agreed.

Where a period is given in days, automatic deletion can run a day or two behind it. The two-day safeguards above already allow for this.
